We were welcomed back to racing with a cool sunny day, a full field of drivers and a great track too!
Thanks to track prep and race day volunteers who made it possible.
30 ish drivers enjoyed another sunny winter's day of dirt sprint racing.
Cogo laid down a PB in the water truck to perfect the 'little more often' method of keeping the track watered and in great condition.
Ant Bonnici took out overall win with Tracy less than a half a second behind in the same EVO. Tim Anson drove smoothly to place third in E class.
Fastest 2WD went to Allen Coles in the Peugeot with a 46.2s, followed by Ric and then John Coles in third. In a rare occurrence Barry Clark went home early with a broken car.
Ian Maguire kept his head to finish safely ahead of Andrew Pearce and Lloyd Robertson in D class.
The close competition in the juniors saw James' new PB push Sam Niven to a new PB with just 0.042s (or 0.87m) seperating them at the finish line. It was new PBs all round for the junors with Dustin closing in with a 51.5s, not to far behind dad Corey in the Excel. New junior driver Colton Weber also set a PB!
The best presented car went to Chris Wedding in which Kristy Wedding took out ladies class ahead of Sharon Bailey. Nancy sat out this round to look after the canteen. Thanks Nancy.
A shorter field allowed 9 runs and plenty of track time for drivers who dragged themselves away from watching the olympics !
Gold for the day went to Wayne in a photo finish 0.67s ahead of Ant in the Silver medal position in his Yaris. Ryan picked up the bronze.
Cogo picked up the Bronze in A class.
Willowbank Park's first Khanacross.
With much thanks and gratitude to the officials, members and volunteers from the Gold Coast Tweed Motorsport Club the event put smiles on the faces of a large field of drivers.
12 E class cars
9 Junior drivers (from 12 years for the first time at Willowbank Park!)
6 Ladies
Some minor changes to the results of the day. Graeme and Matt swap positions in A class. David Micjan goes to 2nd and Tim Anson goes to 3rd in E class. Remember the classes might be different to what you're used to so refer to the Sup Regs.
After a timing challenged start to the day patient drivers managed a few untimed 'practice' runs before the timed runs on each of the three layouts.
